A Unique Experience

If you dream of being whisked away to a destination filled with romance, culture, and history for your wedding, Italy and the Villa Astor are the perfect setting. Dripping in old-world luxury at the most renowned residence in Sorrento, you can expect to be pampered.

It is a majestic structure that rises above the Gulf of Naples. Nestled on two hectares (4+ acres) of land, the distinctive garden, one of Europe's 20 most beautiful gardens, faces Naples and Mount Vesuvius with a dramatic plunge to the sea.

The Villa has a primary structure with three floors. The lowest level, accessible through an exterior stairway, consists of a terrace and a salon in a glass-covered portico, making it the perfect summertime location for meals, gatherings, and barbecues.

Six luxurious bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom designed and built by Jacques Garcia, are located on the first and second floors.

The property has 270-degree sea views and is encircled by a big, private garden with more than 1000 different species of plants, flowers, and trees, some of which reach heights of 60 feet. The decor, paintings, and other items on the property all reflect elegance and classicism with a solid connection to regional southern Italian traditions.

Walking around the house's garden, open areas, and interior rooms is a profoundly emotional experience. Marble columns and artifacts complete its architecture, yet it is hard to describe precisely what Villa Astor stands for.

Weddings At Villa Astor In Sorrento Italy

Villa Astor is truly a luxury destination wedding venue located in Sorrento. The villa has hosted some of the most famous weddings in history, since the early 20th century. And the weddings that take place here are some of the most unbelievable.

The views are designed to be seen from every room in the house, but you can also enjoy them outside on your private balcony or patio.

Three rooms are available for ceremonies: an indoor chapel with high ceilings decorated with antique chandeliers; a small outdoor chapel with walls made of stone; and an outdoor garden where you can say your vows beneath a pergola covered with flowers.

Villa Astor is conveniently located near many other attractions in Sorrento, including museums and historical sites such as Pompei, Herculaneum, and Vesuvius Volcano Park. The venue offers a range of packages to suit all budgets and styles.

The History

Villa Astor has a lengthy history dating back to the first century A.D., when Agrippa Postumus, the grandson of Emperor Augustus, first made it his home. It has long been a house and a destination for the affluent and illustrious.

It is a remarkable example of combining interior and outdoor splendor. William Waldorf Astor purchased this house in 1905 after falling in love with it and filling it with one of the most extensive collections of classical and Renaissance artifacts of the 20th century. It became one of the most sought-after vacation spots in the South of Italy after a wealthy family purchased the Villa in the 1970s and hosted several famous guests, including Gregory Peck, Sofia Loren, Princess Margaret, Franco Zeffirelli, and Rudolf Nureyev.

The villa has been restored over the years, keeping its original design but updating the facilities to meet modern needs. As a result, it remains one of the most popular wedding venues in Sorrento.

It is an ideal location for a luxury wedding on Amalfi Coast and romantic honeymoons. It's also close enough to Naples for guests who may want to include some sightseeing into their trip (though there are plenty of things to do at Villa Astor itself!).

The location offers accommodations with stunning views overlooking the sea or mountain landscape—depending on which suite you book! Guests can enjoy meals in the main dining room or at one of several gourmet restaurants nearby (which can be booked through Villa.

A Luxurious Destination For Weddings & Events

The Astor Villa exudes a classic aura. A museum-quality collection of Greek and Roman antiquities that previously belonged to Lord Astor himself is displayed throughout the magnificent furnishings. In addition, antique relics, such as columns, statues, fountains, urns, pottery shards, and pieces of sarcophagi, are scattered throughout the verdant gardens.

Many of these items were discovered during Pompeii's original excavation, which is just incredible. Imagine the experience you and your wedding guests will have surrounded by such unbelievable history.

Weddings at Villa Astor are a luxurious experience, with many rooms decorated by famous artists like Gustav Klimt and Salvador Dalí. The grounds also feature an outdoor chapel, where many couples say their vows under the Tuscan sun.

It's a stunning luxury villa that offers a truly unique and memorable experience to celebrate your love with your closest family and friends.

A symbolic wedding in Amalfi Coast ceremony and reception for groups of 100–200 guests can be held in the exotic garden and breathtaking terraces of Villa Astor. One of Italy's most gorgeous areas is the Amalfi Coast, which boasts exceptional natural beauty and a rich historical past. In today’s modern times, this place is widely renowned for hosting lavish weddings with romantic settings and beautiful venues. There are several excellent venues in the area, from the stunning Augustus Gardens on Capri, the Pink Palace- Palazzo Avino to the Ravello Town Hall,  which offers outdoor ceremonies with a view of the Mediterranean. A romantic and unforgettable place to tie the knot.

Why Choose Ravello for Your Wedding?

Scenic beauty, clinging cliffside roads, rugged terrain, and tiled picturesque towns make this place the most breathtaking stretch of shoreline in Italy and the best place to get married. And one of our favourite wedding venues is the Palazzo Avino in Ravello, and today we’re going to tell you why it’s the best place to get married in Italy.

The Amalfi Coast, considered Italy's best-kept secret, offers breathtaking vistas from every angle and provides equally beautiful scenic backgrounds for couples getting married in a luxurious setting.

With thousands of years of history, an enchanting mountaintop setting on Italy’s most beautiful coastline, and views that have captivated countless souls and artists and filled hearts with passion, the Palazzo Avino will capture your heart. But it's only the beginning of what you may discover in this little community.

There are still tales to be discovered along its medieval streets, garden cottages, and ancient stone walks. including your love story.

This enchanted setting is more than just what meets the eye. People are not only astounded as they approach the shoreline; it also offers more surprises once they get out of the car and begin their tour of the hotels, castles, cathedrals, museums, and other sights along the coast.

Breathtaking view from Palazzo Avino terrace

Ravello is likely the least visited of the hamlets that stare out onto the azure Meditteranean Sea. Yet it plays in a league of its own, perched 1,150 feet above sea level with stunning coastline vistas, and is an incredible place to get married in Italy.

For couples looking to have a destination near the sea, Ravello is the most romantic and unforgettable location. It is situated just high and far enough away from the main tourist routes to feel more private and intimate. You should consider getting married here if you envision a spectacular affair at a magnificent palazzo or a garden wedding with some of the best panoramic ocean views in all of Italy.

You can tie the knot in one of the ancient and well-manicured gardens with the sun kissing your skin,  say “I Do” in a rustic Moorish palace, a historic castle, or the Palazzo Avino for an unforgettable romantic wedding. With a plentitude of indoor and outdoor settings for your wedding ceremony and reception, your wedding will be an event to remember.

Palazzo Avino

Rising from the majestic cliffs, tucked away on a medieval hilltop, 350 meters above the dazzling Mediterranean-the Palazzo Avino overlooks the coast's picturesque fishing villages. It was built in a former 12th-century private villa for an Italian noble family and opened as a hotel in 1997. It is a magnificent five-star deluxe hotel and one of the world's finest hotels with one-star Michelin cuisine.

The attention is drawn to this palace as you pass along the cobblestone street that borders the Giardini Principessa di Piemonte public garden because of its dazzling and distinctive pink colour. It is home to a five-star luxury hotel currently run by the Avino sisters, Mariella and Attilia.

The lovely location is situated in the south of Naples and offers breathtaking views of the sea from its vantage point on a cliffside. For its affluent tourists, the picturesque surroundings of the dazzling blue sea, an abundance of flowers, and pastel-painted cottages create a tranquil retreat from the hectic outside world.

This multi-award-winning house has been elegantly renovated to the finest standards while keeping its evocative medieval and baroque elements. As a result, the hotel has received praise as one of the world's top hotels and has received global recognition for its dedication to providing the best hospitality and service.

Undoubtedly a majestic place to get married in Italy.

The opulent Palazzo Avino, also referred to as the "Pink Palace" by locals, is perched high on a hillside overlooking terraced gardens that rise from the sea in Ravello. The hotel is the crown jewel of this majestic view. This old villa, which has stood on this site since the 12th century, boasts Italianate magnificence by the wine barrelful, with vaulted ceilings, polished-walnut furnishings, and ornate tiled flooring.

One of the lounge rooms' enormous art deco-style stars, which pays homage to another glamorous era, is something we particularly admire. However, in Italy, living well isn't enough; you also need to eat well. And Rossellini's, the hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant, is undoubtedly one of the most romantic places to have dinner.

Wedding in an Italian Palazzo

A wedding in the Italian Palazzo is an unforgettable experience. From the lavish and historic decor to the impeccable service, your guests will be transported into another time. We can picture intimate wedding ceremonies in the gardens with the gorgeous backdrop of the sparkling sea. Receptions can be held on a terrace or around the pool, and yes! Even in the gardens.

If you dream of getting married in Italy, let us help you bring your vision to life. Our exceptionally trained wedding planners love the Palazzo Avino, and styling your dream wedding will be an honour.

The Treatment

All visitors are given a royal welcome at the Palazzo Avino, which was restored to its former splendour in 1997. While completely renovated and refurbished, it nonetheless maintains the authenticity of its past and gives visitors the chance to unwind and regenerate in a magnificently opulent environment.

The rooms are the stylish counterpoint to the genuine ambiance of the Palazzo. The aquamarine blue, coral red, and sand tones used throughout the rooms are inspired by the aquatic world beneath them. The rooms have curved beds and headboards set against slightly concave walls and are surrounded by unique lights that resemble pearls and seashells.

Once a private residence, the mansion is built around a Moorish-style courtyard with white lime-painted walls. It underwent renovations aimed at preserving its original, imposing architecture while valuing the eclectic style of the Amalfi coast.

The 33 guest rooms and 10 suites are tastefully designed with handmade pottery from the adjacent town of Vietri Sul Mare. Luxurious antique furniture from French and Italian artists of the 17th to 19th centuries and priceless carpets create a luxury oasis away from home.

Undoubtedly, your wedding guests will feel pampered and elite while staying at the stunning Palazzo Avino.

The Amenities

The palazzo's amenities include an infinity pool with views of the sea, a garden pool and solarium, a gym, and a spa with aromatherapy, Californian massages, and revitalizing treatments for the face and body.

Stepped gardens and several terraced areas, including one on the roof, provide exceptional views and lovely areas for taking photos. There is plenty to do while you stay here.

A Culinary Experience

A trip to the Amalfi coast wouldn't be complete without sampling some of its delectable cuisines.

Three dining options are available at the Palazzo Avino hotel: the casual Terrazza Belvedere, which serves seafood pasta and the famous Capresi dumplings; the Lobster & Martini bar, which offers 100 different martini variations; and the Michelin-starred Rossellini's, which serves dishes like Luna Caprese dumplings made of lemon bread and stuffed with Corbarino tomato.

With the exceptionally trained culinary team, your wedding guests will be WOW’d with delectable Italian cuisine fit for royalty. A food experience no one will forget.

Important Things To Consider

When planning a wedding at this gorgeous villa, you must consider a few essential things. Here is a complete guide to help you plan the perfect wedding at this stunning hotel.

The first thing you need to do is decide on your wedding date. The location is a popular Italian wedding venue, so booking your date well in advance is important. Once you set your date, you can start planning the rest of your wedding.

The next thing you need to think about is your guest list. The Villa San Michele Hotel can accommodate up to 200 guests, so make sure to invite everyone you want to attend. If you're having a smaller wedding, the hotel also has smaller event spaces that may be more suitable for your needs.

Now that you have your date and the guest list sorted, it's time to start thinking about the details of your wedding. We'll reserve you several packages available, so be sure to ask what's included. You'll also need to decide on wedding catering, flowers, music, decorations, and any additional events you may want to host.

What Type of Ceremony Can You Choose?

There are many different types of wedding ceremonies you can choose from when getting married here. If you are looking for a traditional ceremony, you can opt for a Catholic or Protestant service. Both of these services will be conducted by an officiant in front of your guests.

If you are looking for something a little more unique, you can opt for a humanist ceremony conducted by either a celebrant or an officiant. This type of ceremony is non-religious and focuses on the couple's love for each other. You can also choose to have a civil ceremony, which a mayor or magistrate conducts. Again, this ceremony is secular and not affiliated with any religion.

Wedding Receptions

There are many breathtaking reception areas at the Hotel, including an outdoor terrace with stunning views of Florence, the city’s skyline, and the surrounding Tuscan hillsides. In addition, various spaces can be transformed indoors to suit your vision, from elegant ballrooms to more comfortable lounge areas.

Whether you’re looking for an intimate setting for close family and friends or a grand venue for a lavish celebration, is sure you'll have the perfect space.

How To Get There

The best way to get to the Villa is by car. However, if you are coming from out of town, you can take a bus to Florence, and then a taxi or Uber to the villa. But if you want a truly unforgettable experience, arrive via the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Venice is a sought-after wedding destination for getting married on a boat as it is said a rosy light descends on the city and the river of Tiber and Arno are magnificent for seeing the city on ships.

Engage A Wedding Planner

An Italian wedding on the water needs a gifted local wedding planner. You can book anyone who strikes your fancy and enjoys a good reputation online and start working with them even before landing in Italy. As any wedding expert will tell you, if you’re going for a destination wedding, it is best to put the location’s best features and backdrops to work for you rather than adopting a strict theme that doesn’t showcase the brilliance of the local culture.

If there’s anything an Italian wedding can provide you with is a ready-made honeymoon destination right after the wedding, a chance to see some of the best of what Europe has to offer, to take incomparably beautiful photographs of just the two of you together, and the opportunity to sample some mouthwatering local cuisine.

A local wedding planner irons out many confusing details such as country laws, the legal process of getting married, and how you can secure the best rates and even the best wine! A local wedding planner also can call in favors if you need a photographer or suggest the perfect caterer if you have a particular food preference in mind (such as vegan or vegetarian).

Breaking Down The Cost

The season, the location, and a range of other factors usually affect the cost of a destination wedding and wedding venues on the water. So a few months before the wedding, it is sensible to get a few quotes from the key suppliers so that there is still time to choose someone else if you feel you aren’t getting adequate value for money. The good news is that getting married on the water, say in the South of Italy where the sand and the ethereal blue are an ever-present delight, comes with its own natural decorations lessening how much you’d need to spend on florists or lighting equipment.

The Venue Is The Main Attraction

Italy has an abundance of villas and hotels that overlook the sea and capture its Mediterranean flavor. The islands of Sicily and Sardina, and Capri, for example, are spectacular for hosting an Italian wedding on the water as they are nothing short of perfect with their soft sand, deep blue water, and several historical archaeological sites. The Amalfi Coast is another treasure trove of scenery, history, and culture, and fairytale-appropriate houses littered over the cliffs overlooking the raging waves.

Many poets have even said that the people of Amalfi live in real paradise, and anyone who visits will never want to leave! Puglia is another excellent coastline choice for weddings with its picture-perfect white villas, little houses, and heritage sites. Lake Como is also a dreamy wedding venue fit for celebrities, and the best time to plan an Italian beach wedding is from April to October, which has the best temperate weather.

The Italian Riviera boasts numerous locations for the most spectacular wedding venues on the water. Porto Venere is known for its fishing port, Santa Margherita for its resort offerings, Portofino and Cinque Terre. Sorrento is a brilliant choice for the history buff who wants a photoshoot amongst some magnificent landmarks.
